Description
We can consider the heel an idiophone, since it sets the rhythm when the feet hit the ground with different shoes.
Way of playing
Sound is produced by tapping the feet against the ground while singing, dancing or playing an instrument.
History
As in other countries, in the Basque Country the heel has also been used to mark the rhythm of music. Proof of this is the "zurrume-dantza" dance of our folklore. Father Donostia (1952) includes the zurrume-talón in the list of Basque idiophones (p. 292).
